My prize is in seeing.
We have three possible reactions to blood, and all blood ritual is an expression and mastery of one of these three spiritual forces.
The three instincts that we have when we see red, when we see blood, are:
Lust, the desire to mate.
Fear, the desire to flee or protect.
Hunger, the desire to kill and feed.
All blood magick is linked to one of these three forces. All blood practices put you in touch with one of these forces, and let you channel and even perhaps transform these forces. Like lust turned to inspiration, or fear turned to wisdom, or hunger turned into strength.
Blood magick seems to be associated with night? Why is that? It actually associates with day and the sun. It is mirrored by the night. Even your circadian rhythms are more energetic during the day. The blood moves more when the sun is up, rest more during the night.
Why are vampires night creatures? They lack blood and therefore can’t access day? They are not of the blood. To be in our world and sustain themselves, they need the gift of blood.
Does sunlight hurt them? No, just shuns them, weakens them, troubles them. It only purges the lesser, more elemental blood drinkers.
Such as? Hmm, hungry ghosts, also known as vroloks. Discarnates that drain life energy tend to lose their anchor in our world if exposed to the sun. This is why they haunt our crypts and basements, sewers even. This is why they are considered unclean spirits. They are sewer dwellers, and well, are considered to be plague spirits as well.
Your thoughts are welcome. Be well friends.
