Not having what you want won’t make you saintly. If you’re damned if you do, and damned if you don’t, you might as well go ahead.
I will offer an insight. The difference between white and black magick.
White magick seeks to call the Gods to our level. Black magick seeks to put man on the level of the Gods. Neither seeks evil, and just as there is foolishness on the path of light, there are fools on the left hand path as well. Granted perhaps more fools than the other, because many turn to it when they think that the light has failed them. They had no truth in their minds in the first place and are fit for neither path.
The word daemon originally meant any spirit between the level of the absolute divine and the human, benign or otherwise. We are all daemons. We are all angels and devils. Hopefully, we aren’t all blind.
The mole is no less noble than the eagle. The scorpion no less a hero than the lion, but the animals don’t struggle with hubris. Hubris was originally defined as making someone else feel shame for your own betterment. Making someone else assume a lower position to satisfy yourself, for whatever reason.
The left hand path is not about demeaning anyone. Where it differs from the right hand is it doesn’t concern itself with the advancement of humanity as a whole.
The Greek plays used it as pride that brings the downfall of the hero. Indeed. They’re the same thing. Baseless self-aggrandizement does go before a fall.
Speaking from my own path, I have no desire to sell any of you any doctrine, to teach you anything at all. Your progress, to my mind, is your business. I share what I do simply out of friendship.
So don’t be afraid to get humble, to have a catlike stretch, or to smell something stinky just because you can, or chase a bird just because you are bored.
Your thoughts are welcome. Namaste, and I mean it.
