Category: World Belief

On my spiritual path I have studied many world beliefs. While I don’t claim to be an authority on them, I will share some of what I’ve learned in the ‘World Beliefs’ category. Perhaps they will inspire you to seek further.

Those who abandon their faith are not faithless. Perhaps quite to the contrary, their faith has given them the strength to abandon trappings. Religion from the Latin religio meaning practice. We will all have practices. I was very devout myself, and in my devotion I found I could no longer devote myself to that creed. My faith isn’t weak. It motivates my seeking. I don’t subscribe to any specific faith. I find truth in my personal experience which does loosely label me a Gnostic. Many Gnostic schools say the logos indwells our sun itself.

The Buddhas wisdom was put into the context of the greater way as was the only way it could be, but in fact the symbolism is at best intuitively true. The spheres exist within us. Wisdom is simple. It is the sign of true knowing. Not if they can spout arcane jargon, but can they take an arcane topic and make it abundantly clear to the uninitiated.

I will state that these beliefs discussed are not necessarily my beliefs.

“There is not enough religion in the world to destroy the world’s religious.” Friedrich Nietzsche

  • Types Of Religion

    Types Of Religion

There are two general types of religion and orthodox/institutional religion is by far the most common. Science, atheism, psychology, and these have led to their very own brands of “sin” which was originally just a word meaning error. The second type could be called “living”, and even some orthodoxies have attempted a revival by attempting…

  • Enjoy Your Beliefs

    Enjoy Your Beliefs

Do you think religion is in our DNA? The God gene? I think sensitivity is in our DNA, and more sensitive people are attracted to religion much the same as sensitive people are attracted to art. Like attracts like. Yes. The law of sympathy. It could be argued it’s necessary for our very survival. I…

  • Sage And Wise

    Sage And Wise

Shall we discuss Bard magick? It might help to start with some background on the school of thought known today as wizardry. It had an older name, but I am awkward with ancient tongues so I will just stick with what we all know. The ancient Wizards were the sages and wise men and women…

  • Bard Order

    Bard Order

Bards were perhaps the most feared and respected of the Druid order. The Druids themselves lived as hermits when they weren’t officiating ceremonies, even practicing asceticism much like a Buddhist monk. You could call a news anchor a Bard perhaps? Yes, you could. But the old Bards had more integrity and wielded their influence much…

  • History Of Bards

    History Of Bards

The Bards kept a history not only of their people, but of language itself, and song extending back into what we would call prehistoric time. Perhaps to no surprise, their history parallels what science now says of language development in the brain. They speak of a time when nothing knew what it was, so the…

  • Magic Song

    Magic Song

How would a Bard cast a spell? They would compose a song. Having to have a clear form, they used specific rhythms, and they had rules about spoken as well as implied connections. Rhyme. The structure of a Bard song would rhyme the word describing an object with other words they meant to transform it…

  • Will In Song

    Will In Song

You can even practice divination with Bardic magick. Ever notice when you are relaxed and maybe talking to yourself a little bit, you will sometimes say something you didn’t expect to say? And learn something from it? That’s Bard magick, just a bit sloppy, stifled. Singing makes you loosen your control of that. When you…

  • Gypsy Magick

    Gypsy Magick

Tonight’s topic is Gypsy Magick. It’s kind of a hard topic to talk about as they do not have a single tradition. They are not a single tribe for one, and they do not all engage in entertainment for a living, or didn’t. Fortune telling, thieving, maybe edging on witchcraft? Actually, no witchcraft. Not as…

  • Patriarchal Society

    Patriarchal Society

Gypsies are a patriarchal society, but they do not see women as cattle. In fact, their marriage ceremonies are rather informal. Two who wish to be married come before the tribes head man and state their intent promising to be loyal to each other. Then they are considered married. Keep in mind their view of…

  • Roma Spirituality

    Roma Spirituality

Back to magic. The Gypsy people do not believe the practice of magick is evil, but they do believe it can be practiced foolishly and cause harm. From their point of view, you respect God and look for his/her hand in the world, look for signs. But if you need healing you do it yourself.…

  • Gypsy Belief

    Gypsy Belief

Gypsy people do believe in possession, and they do believe that those possessed are under the influence of the Devil. But again, it’s not about evil. They do believe in werewolves and such, but it’s more just an accident than a moral failing. They believe werewolves are bad. They do believe in vampires, but vampires…

  • Gyspy Family

    Gyspy Family

Gypsy people work as an extended family and they play the same way. Brother John isn’t poor, the clan is poor. Sister Sue isn’t unhappy, the clan is unhappy. There is a reason you don’t hear of Gypsy people “escaping”. Telling OMG stories of how horrible their families are. They don’t escape because they don’t…

  • Luck Of The Gypsy

    Luck Of The Gypsy

Does superstition come from Gypsy beliefs? Not just. The Gypsy people picked up a lot of beliefs, but some they never embraced and still don’t. The word superstition means surviving belief, and they make a point of avoiding practices and even ideas they feel are unclean. Superstition is basically the same thing as tradition, but…

  • Two World Facets

    Two World Facets

In world beliefs across our planet, there is the notion of man going to or coming from the stars. Some even believing that their kind did not originate on earth. The human genome project itself actually singles out a starting population of homo sapiens that was really not that high. Do you know the number?…

  • Detection Of Other Worlds

    Detection Of Other Worlds

Ever notice that animals will react to the behaviour not only of their own kind but of other species as well? And not just in a predator versus prey sort of way, but in an informational way? Animals also do not automatically reject the supposedly crazy members of their species, do they? Animal ostracism occurs…

  • Planetary Travel

    Planetary Travel

Space not being a constant, it’s not hard to imagine that planetary travel doesn’t actually have to cross space. With a sufficient grasp of higher dimensional spatial topography, divining and designing means to use hyper spatial pathways would seem rather simple. You don’t have to travel physically. It’s not preferred. It’s true physical travel is…

  • The Intervention

    The Intervention

They practiced the dreaming. It’s gone by many names. The Oracles of the Greeks. The Shamans of many cultures. Even the rare savants where the culture didn’t have much of a formal tradition. Prophets among the cultures of the middle east. Ezekiel would have been such a case. There have been many others. There was…

  • Time Space Structure

    Time Space Structure

How many of you have seen a figure in your dreams that you could not make out? That gave the inescapable impression of being totally independent of your mental function? We see dream characters all the time. We all to some degree know them for what they are. Are you referring to thought forms or…
